The position I hold is called 4-H Program Manager & Youth Development Coordinator which I think sounds stronger than Extension Assistant, is much more descriptive and explains the position better to stakeholders. We need to communicate outside our core group and a job/position title can be an effective marketing tool. It is a little lengthy though!

Monte, I agree. I think most people, and especially the older generation still prefer ag agent or county agent. Very good point!

I think the question of “how do others interpret it?” is an interesting one. I’m wondering whether the general public makes much of a distinction between “educator” and the more traditional “county agent.” At least, I’m still referred to as the “county agent” or “ag agent” by the majority of clientele in my county.
