Research Supporting the Flipped Classroom’s Use of Instructional Video.

After a few weeks, everyone will be familiar with my morning routine of eating breakfast and reading the Chronicle of Higher Education.  🙂  So, again this morning, another great read.  This time a commentary on research from the University of Michigan on whether the flipped classroom instructional videos were useful as a teaching tool.

I took the time to read the original research paper.  Their findings indicated that students who used the focused videos showed increased competency in those areas on exams.  Frequency of use was correlated to the increased competency, except in the case of students who actively chose not to use the videos.  Researchers perceived that these students determined that they did not need additional instruction in these topics.
