Yammer: An Easy Way to Connect with UNL Colleagues through Social Media

UNL Extension Group on YammerI just learned about Yammer in a meeting today, and I think it would be a great way to connect and engage with UNL Extension Colleagues. It is just like Facebook, but specifically for work. You use your UNL email address to sign up and can join a group or create a group that is public or private.

Once you join, make sure to join the UNL Extension Group and start sharing.  I posted about my Educational Remix blog to the UNL Extension Group on Yammer and the process was just like Facebook.

What is Yammer?
Yammer is a private social network that helps you and your company stay on top of it all. Yammer collaboration software and business applications allow you to get connected to the right people, share information across teams and organize around projects so you can go further – faster. For more information, check out https://about.yammer.com.

How to Join?
Go to https://www.yammer.com and put in your unl.edu email address. You will receive an email to activate your Yammer account and complete the signup.

It is simple to join, and I look forward to connecting with everyone.  You can download the app for your mobile device to make staying connected easier. Let me know if you have any questions.

  1. You’re amazing Kayla! Way to get us all involved with this and ALREADY getting a blog post up about this!

  2. Thanks Jenny! I tried to be timely and I may be a little excited about this.

  3. I also learned that copying from an email isn’t the best idea… I already created an email, so I decided I could create a blog post fast by copying and pasting. The html coding was messed up and things were not working right. But, we learn as we go, and it all should be good now.

I’m going to check this out. Sounds like it could be a useful way to collaborate. Thanks, Kayla.
